The Peach State leads the nation in growth of number of women-owned businesses in the past 15 years and Atlanta was also ranked high, according to the yearly American Express American Express Latest from The Business Journals Follow this company </SPAN>OPEN State of Women-Owned Businesses Report.

Georgia saw 94.7 percent growth of number of women-owned firms and was 27th in the nation with 64.2 percent growth of firm revenue from 1997 to 2012. There are now an estimated 283,400 women-owned firms in the state that generate $41.5 billion in annual revenue.
