i'm not big on newer homes, but i was working on this project i'm doing and i found this new development in southeast atlanta called high point:

https://maps.google.com/maps?q=High+...205.38,,0,0.79

the homes look nice for new homes, in the suburbs these would fetch $500,000 easily. but the prices on these homes are rock bottom— if you've got around $100,000 you can take your pick. i know it's in proximity to some rougher parts such as lakewood, but you can usually tell the rough spots from the streetview— i don't see any drug dealers hanging out. what's the story with this place?

Looks nice. How many houses are there?

Hmmm, that seems tempting. I believe that newer looking development across the street is a former AHA project.

I could be totally wrong, but my bet is you will be dealing with higher than average vehicle break ins and the constant threat of your house being robbed during the day. With that few of houses, it takes away that safety net of power in numbers.

On the seriously high up side, that is the path of the beltline running right above! This could be a good long term investment.

it looks like around 100. i'm surprised i've never heard of this before.

as for across the street, it's "the villages at carver", i think it's similar to the centennial place development. looking at reviews, it appears the apartments really suck, not because of crime but because they're very poorly maintained.

I had to go to the airport yesterday and drove through the neighborhood on the way home. It looks great.
