Hello,

This is probably a long shot but I was hoping to find someone here who knows about this school. They are moving from East Atlanta to Tucker and we are seriously considering it for our son for the fall. But, I don't know anyone who has any first-hand experience with them. Here is the website: home.

Thanks!

I'm new to the forum but I am also curious about this school. I pass the tucker location during my daily commute and I attempted to do some basic research since I am considering private school for my child. KingFisher seems to be a cross between Montessori & Waldorf, which is great but from the info I read on their website there is a heavy emphasis on environmental issues
Also, the building looks very small and if the schools is for K-8, I'm wondering how many slots are available for each grade level. Hopefully someone with more knowledge on the school can weigh in.

Instead of coming to an internet forum why not just give them a call and ask for a tour? This school is not on the ATL private school radar screen - doesn't even seem to be a member of AAAIS. You'll be lucky to find objective help here.

Really Pete? You mean I can actually call the school and request a tour? You're a genius!

I actually have met with the director of the school. It seems like a great fit for my son. I really just want to hear from some parents who have sent their children there. They are accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission.

My son (almost 6) went to Kingfisher last year, and will be back this year at the new location. He's a kid who excels in certain areas and lags in others, and Debbie and the other staff at Kingfisher made sure that he was challenged and interested in all the best ways. The small size of the school allows them to take great field trips and learn really exciting things - no worries about any 'teaching to the test.' All the children are periodically tested to make sure they're at a level where their peers in public school are, and generally, from what I've seen, the kids test a good bit higher than the public school kids. The individualized attention and the time devoted to making the kids well-rounded is just fantastic. We've been really happy there.
