Good post, Snake. I don't agree with everything but your overall point is totally valid.

And it's not only the top 1% -- the upper 50% need government as much as the lower 50%.

That doesn't mean there isn't a colossal amount of stupidity, waste, corruption and self-dealing in government. There is, but the well to do participate and benefit from it, too.

One of the arguments that left libertarians make is that without a big central taxing government people would not be able to aquire and hold on to more wealth then they can defend.

It's silly to say the 1% doesn't need the government.
