We have a contract on our very nice home in a master planned community south of Atlanta. Folks want occupancy by Dec 31st. We need to move our family of 5 north of Atlanta. We drive back and forth to Kennesaw 5-6 days per week and twice on Sundays. I work in downtown Atlanta 3 days per week and my commute can easily be 1 hour or more in morning rush hour traffic so I am used to driving. Kids are 4, 7, and 13 so quality schools are a must. Budget preferred is about $417K, maybe at bit more. Would love a 3 car garage or at least parking for 3rd vehicle.

Should we focus on East/West Cobb, venture into Cherokee? Anywhere master planned or where we aren't sitting right on top of our neighbor? Please provide suggestions of neighborhoods. We have to make a decision soon. We really would like to move from one place into the other so kids can start school in January.

Oh my, considering that I'm trying to move out of Kennesaw, I probably might not have the best attitude for responding to this question. However, I think Marietta would be the best option. When you say Cherokee, I assume you mean Woodstock; you'll never get out of there headed west during rush hour - you may as well move to Alpharetta. Acworth would not be a horrible choice depending on which part. What about Kennesaw itself (can't believe I'm suggesting this)? It has nice houses at reasonable prices.
