We are moving from Jacksonville and we heard that traffic there can be really bad for longer commutes. I will be moving in couple weeks and want to know area/side of the town to look for apartments in. I will be working just north but very close to I-75 and I-285.

We don't have any kids so school is not of a priority for us.
My wife works from home and also needs good stable and fast internet connection.
Our budget is close to $1000/month

Cumberland Mall/Vinings area is a great place to rent and it is exactly where you will be working. There are older as well as newer apartments so tons to choose from.

Do you need one or two bedrooms - at $1,000 two bedroom you are definitely looking at an older apartment. Perhaps look in the Smyrna area. At $1,200 for one bedroom you will get more options.

You can't really go wrong in a 2 mile radius from I-75 and I-285. Up to a 5 mile radius won't be too bad with traffic.

I am only looking for 1 bedroom/ 1 bath.

Is there a lot of difference between Smyrna vs Marietta area? They both are almost the same distance from my work.

A lot more cheaper options in Marietta. So that is an advantage.

There is the City of Marietta and then there is unincorporated Cobb County which often has a Marietta mailing address.

City of Smyrna is north of I-285 and west of I-75

City of Marietta is north of I -285 and primarily west of I-75

The remaining areas in the radius around I-285 I-75 is unincorporated Cobb County. If it is within zip code 30339 it will have either an Atlanta or Vinings address (it's a complicated story) otherwise it will have a Marietta address.

All three have nice areas and for rental purposes makes little difference. The only area I would stay clear of is directly off of Cobb Parkway (Highway 41) just north of Suntrust Park. This is very commercial and definitely the least desirable.
