Another useless list based on meaningless stats for you to consume.

How healthy are these 10 metro Atlanta counties? | Health Matters

I wonder how these rankings relate to the poverty rate in those counties?

Directly related.

Also, it's all apples to oranges. Forsyth county is a lot further from the city and its industrial activity, with a lot of forest, so therefore they have better air quality and lung health? Well gee Fulton, why didn't you think of that. Not sure what these kind of lists are even saying.

Strongly.

Forsyth County, named the healthiest county in the state, also has the lowest level of child poverty of any county in the state (8%). #2 on the list, Fayette, had only 10% child poverty. Compare this to #10 on the list, Clayton, with 36% of children living in poverty. http://www.countyhealthrankings.org/...actors/24/data

Our state government's shameful refusal to expand Medicaid would help reduce this inequality. Unfortunately that appears not to be a priority for them, at all.

There is no reason 36% of kids should be living in poverty, Deal should be ashamed of himself.

The really sad thing is that it goes up over 50% -- more than half of all children living in poverty -- in two counties. And more than 1 out of every 4 children statewide live in those conditions. It's something we all should be ashamed of, and consider each and every time we vote.

There's a direct correlation with poverty and Health. Forysth is #1 in the state for median income and Fayette is #2. Also, Forsyth and Fayette are usually ranked as one of the top 50 wealthiest counties in the nation.

As for poverty, 70% of school aged children in Georgia are on free and reduced lunch. It was below 40% 15 years ago. In Clayton County it's over 90%. It's unconscionable that 70% of the kids in Georgia qualify for free and reduced lunch. What's happening to Georgia's middle class?

I believe the middle class is shrinking nationwide. A lot of new job creation is happening at or near the bottom of the pay spectrum, and many of those new jobs are being taken by folks who had higher paying jobs previously.
