I've been waiting for the Jamestown development on Riverview Landing since it was announced ages (years) ago. I've been checking their website every couple months to see if it's actually happening.
Me too, when I found out the PCM people were doing something on the river it got my interest in a hurry. It sounds like the main thing keeping them waiting was the reconstruction of Riverview Road, which seems to be happening now.

Sounds like it could be interesting, but I don't like the artist rendition because it looks like it's just a development that also has a walking trail that goes along the river.

I'd like to see something like restaurants where you can sit on a patio that directly overlooks the river. Stores with big floor to ceiling windows that have unobstructed views of the river. Stuff like that.

And hey, since we love alternative transportation so much....why not have a dock so people could canoe or kayak there if they wanted to?

Riverview Landing already has a dock with river access. It would be pretty cool to casually canoe to lunch!

Braselton is the new frontier line for metro Atlanta. It has become an important employment center. Good paying jobs too. It's population growth reflects all this-523% between 2000-2010. Nearly 20% since 2010. Rapid growth all around, filling in the rest of Gwinnett county.

I thought Atlanta River Walk was going way down yonder on the Chattahoochee.

If there is going to be an "Atlanta River Walk", it should be on the Upper West Side along the Chattahoochee.

Jamestown's Riverview Landing is a project I could see actually happening. Riverview Landing: Ponce City Market developers focus on Smyrna | www.ajc.com

Never let anyone claim I've got nothing nice to say about Smyrna.

Braselton is less than 30 mins from the perimeter with no traffic. The land in question is not a cotton field. It is old growth hardwoods located next to the Mulberry River.

I think we should do more with or river frontage, but I also feel it is important to mention that we have new federal policies implemented since the '70s.

We will never be able to replicate something exactly like a landing or San Antonio style riverwalk.

We can't do anything to impede the flow of the flood plain or channel water more quickly to downstream areas. This is what old developments building close to the water inadvertently did.

This means we will have more projects with some type of linear green space, whether it be active or passive, along the river, and development a greater distance from the water.

Hey Look, another Avalon with overpriced housing/shopping and tiny lots where the Developer can charge a premium for a spot in the middle of nowhere...
