With Pine street closing and South Downtown being slated for some much needed gentrification in the next decade... What's next for the homeless population in the CoA?

I came across an interesting article about Vienna's historical response to there homeless problem and low income housing in general. I visited Vienna for the first time in May, and was extremely impressed by the city, and it's perceived quality of life.

I'd like to see what percentage of the homeless were "relying" on Peachtree Pine. I would bet it's not as many as people think, these are just the most visible

The problem is how do you build free housing without attracting more homeless?

How about state lawmakers push for more mental institutions for addicts and those with mental disabilities to receive help. Other than that, the true jobless homeless people already have plenty of programs to help them find work and even training for no cost. I don't think many of the people downtown fit into this category though.

I love the liberal mind. Please let me know how any housing is "free"? Might be free for them but typically costs taxpayers plenty...

That's a dumb question. Obviously, just like when you get something for free at a business, it cost someone money. Everyone knows this, and the word "free" isn't being used incorrectly here. No one was under the impression that the housing would build itself.

If you don't care what happens with the homeless, please just move on.
