Where are young AA families buying/shopping for homes in Atlanta, any recommended areas ITP?

We are a young AA family and looking for housing. Would prefer a location that we don't "stick-out" as much and can safely jog anytime w/o confused neighbors looking at us.

Additional priorities:
- Good public school options
- Commute to Emory less than 50 minutes one way, I would like less than hour commute for most of the major employment hubs in atlanta.
- Want to avoid the suburbia, a lot of OTP seems like there aren't good sidewalks outside of the home's subdivision i would at least want a town well connected via sidewalks at a minimum.

Ideally we want to stay in the low/mid $300k. Would consider high $300k/low $400k if the house deserves it.

I wiuld suggest looking into the area around Tucker / Stone Mountain / Clarkston in DeKalb County.

It's just outside ITP and suburban, but it has a sizeable middle class AA population, is in relatively reasonable commuting distance to Emory and schools that are decent enough.

Budget will be everything. I mean I'm pretty sure just about everywhere ITP would be within an hour to Emory. Traffic can be bad, but not that bad.

EDIT: posted at the same time.
I think that budget could be tight ITP for decent schools. Maybe Tucker? But unfortunately for you, well connected sidewalks doesn't really exist outside of intown Atlanta except for on a very local scale.

50 min/hour is worst case. My wife doesn't want to be sitting in traffic adding an extra work day to her week (10 hours)

But to the main question: Where are young AA families buying?

We do like those areas, now just waiting for the right house. Slightly concerned regarding school ratings, but we definitely need to look deeper into the data.

We’re an AA family relocating to Atlanta this summer. We’re looking at Smyrna and in the city Bolton/Riverside area. We’re considering Westview or West End but will have to see how we fair on the charter school wait lists.
