SMYRNA, GA — A 140-room "lifestyle hotel" is coming to the home of the Braves.
Aloft Hotel will be joining the lineup at The Battery Atlanta, home of SunTrust Park, in 2020, the Braves Development Company announced Wednesday. It will join the recently announced Silverspot Cinema and Savi Provisions as part of the Battery's mixed-use development, as well as a planned tower that will be home of German company thyssenkrupp's North American headquarters.

"The addition of another hotel inside The Battery Atlanta continues our transformation of this community not just physically, but financially through the tax digest and the velocity of leases further showcases the success of this unique destination," said Mike Plant, President and CEO of the Braves Development Company, in a news release. "Aloft will be the perfect complement to The Battery Atlanta. Guests coming to a Braves game, a concert at the Coca Cola Roxy, or those here on a business trip can stay in a convenient location."

With this and the tower development, there will be no free slots left at the Battery. Unless they replace older buildings or get creative with properties.

Battery is awesome.

It not only should have been built downtown, it could have been had they not screwed the pooch so royally when they designed Turner Field.

Of course, that's not exactly true... I think we all understand that even with the same exact infrastructure, Atlanta would not have been able to duplicate the success of the Battery for reasons that could fill a 500 page book.

Oh well, no use crying over spilled milk, the Battery is awesome. Nice job, Cobb county.
