We are relocating to Atlanta in early spring. I have done a lot of research (great schools etc) but I am hoping to find a locals opinion on the elementary schools in west Cobb/acworth. I will have a first and third grader. We would like a well rounded school that is academically challenging and allows for a lot of parent involvement (hopefully a good way to meet people?). We are interested in Ford, Pickett’s Mill and Frey. They all seem to be in a similar area but Ford gets better reviews. Is there really that big a difference?

Thank you for any help at all. I’ve never lived outside of my state so am a little scared and clueless. Thanks!

Any of those would be a good choice. They are all about the same size and none are over capacity. Pickett's Mill would be the newer building. Try the Cobb County Schools Unofficial page on Facebook to get more specific opinions.

You are welcome! People in that area of the county generally love their schools, so don't be nervous about the move in terms of schools. You hear Georgia and you might think, ugh, bad schools. It isn't the case in a lot of the metro Atlanta area. I'd advise looking for a swim/tennis neighborhood as this tends to make neighborhoods more cohesive and provides a way to meet people as well as activity for kids in the summer. I lived in Cobb for 32 years. It's a great place to raise kids.
