In the past few years, both 24 hour McDonald's by my house have stopped staying open overnight, one of the Krogers did a couple years ago, and the second closest Kroger stopped its overnight hours earlier this week. None of the Walgreens near me are 24 hour, or the CVS.

So I'm just curious: What part of Atlanta do you think has access to the best 24 hour amenities?

And when I say amenities, I mean things that are useful in day to day life. I'm not talking about bars and strip clubs that stay open late. I mean restaurants, stores, etc.

there aren't any 24 hour krogers left in atlanta as far as i know. the last ones (ansley mall, edgewood for sure, but i didn't check citi center) started closing at 1 AM a couple of weeks ago. i don't know if there *is* a 24 hour neighborhood in atlanta. the only thing i can think of that's close is on buford highway and up around pleasant hill road there are a lot of 24 hour places.

I agree that there is no true 24 hour neighborhood. Downtown has a 24 hour cvs with a 24 hr Walgreens not too far away. Landmark and Metro diners are also 24 hours. Just some non-waffle house options.

Ironic that there was a lot more 24 hr activity in Atlanta 40 years ago than there is now. Since then, a lot of the old 24 hour nightclubs and diners (including the notorious private 'bottle clubs') have fallen by the wayside.

Smyrna/Vinings: Don't laugh!

The CVS located at Atlanta Rd./Spring Rd. is open 24/7 365 days a year. Next door is a 24/7 waffle place (formerly a Huddle House) The Atkins Park Restaurant located in Smyrna Market Village is open until 4 AM Monday to Friday (the one in VA Highlands closes at 3 AM).

The Starbucks located at the I-285/Paces Ferry Rd. interchange has the longest opening hours of any Starbucks in the Metro area - while they used to be open 24/7, they are now open to midnight and reopen at 4:30 AM. (The inside is open until midnight as well as the drive through) Also, the Publix in Vinings (on Cumberland Parkway next door to the Starbucks) is open until 11 PM (which is unusual for Publix) and the Krogers in Vinings (Cobb Pkwy at Paces Mill Rd.) and Smyrna (S. Cobb Dr. at Concord Rd.) are open until 1 AM.

There are several 24-hour grocery stores and drug stores in the suburbs, but none that I know of in the city outside of the couple of drug stores mentioned above.

To be honest, I don't think of Atlanta (anywhere in Atlanta) as a 24-hour city. I think that's one of the reasons people move here is that there is less hustle and bustle.

The first city that came to mind when I saw "24-hour" is NYC. Las Vegas is another that pops in my head. I wouldn't consider anywhere to be a 24-hour neighborhood if all we are typically going by is a Micky Dees, Waffle House, Wal-Mart, etc.
