Selig Enterprises Inc. is planning a massive mixed-use project along Chattahoochee Avenue where the city’s gritty industrial past is making way for trendy restaurants, new housing and loft offices.

The name "Upper Westside" needs to die.

A few points from the article:

Quote:
The Works at Chattahoochee

Developer: Selig Development
Location: Upper Westside along Chattahoochee Avenue
Size: 80 acres
Details: 1.5 million square feet; 600,000 square feet of office, 500,000 square feet of retail, 500 residences, 200-key boutique hotel, 13 acres of greenspace
Timeline: The project will be delivered in phases over the next five to 10 years.

Phase 1 is already under way.

One unknown is how the Upper Westside will invest in its infrastructure to handle the influx of people and jobs.

“Can they accommodate the traffic?” Lipton asked. “Can they create access to public transportation?”

The area appears to see the coming challenges. It has created a Community Improvement District that should take a lead role on discussions about transportation infrastructure.

Based on that picture, they aren't going mid-rise like many of these newer projects like Lindberg or Emory Point.

Anyone know where along Chattahoochee Avenue this will be? And yea, going with a 1-2 story facility isn't great.

This article mentions 1235 Chattahoochee Ave as the location for Phase 1 of the project. I think that's across the street from TopGolf.

Single story is probably because they're adaptive reusing the bones of former industrial buildings.

And it's appropriate, IMO, given this area's illogical roads and generally terrible infrastructure and connectivity. Fix that before adding mid-rises and more density to an area that was never intended or designed for it.

Anyway, awesome news. Exciting!

This is awesome, would love to see the land outlined from a birds eye view to get a better understanding what is being developed.

This area would not be that hard to fix the "illogical" roads and infrastructure. It is a prime area for Atlanta to focus on encouraging denser development. The east side really can't handle much more.

Collier Rd should extend SW to Marietta Rd, via 4-way stoplight intersections with Chattahoochee and Marietta Blvd. And Collier should really have its own interchange w/ I-75. Those changes would help a lot.
