A proposed 40-acre mixed-use development with apartments, townhomes and office buildings next to the BeltLine could become one of the largest real estate development projects on Atlanta’s Westside.

Quote:
Developer Tenth Street Ventures last year purchased just over 15 acres at 1060 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway in Bankhead for roughly $20 million, according to Fulton County property records. Now it’s assembling 25 more acres, including land along the Westside Trail...

... Documents show the project would include up to 2,000 apartments and townhomes, some in 10- to 12-story buildings. The project would also include 500,000 square feet of office and commercial space.

No, it's not the finished line but actually closer to the starting point. The Microsoft Campus is just the latest large project that will be a catalyst for long-term investment in the Westside, even through economic cycles.

If for some reason the Microsoft Campus never happens, the Beltline is never completed and future phases of Westside Park are canceled, then yes it is possible for growth to stall or reverse. But those all seem unlikely or would have to be the result of something pretty catastrophic given the momentum the area already has even before any of those projects are fully realized.

@Smocaine, the Westside is and has been on fire without Microsoft.

Microsoft has an opportunity to create a totally sustainable project that will put its Corporate Social Responsibility off the charts. To have its, campus, residents, and improve a community at the same time is totally an amazing corporate internality of community sustainability and ultimate usefulness.

Default Atlanta Hip-Hop legends Killer Mike and T.I. move forward with plans to revive historic Bankhead Seafood

Atlanta Hip-Hop legends Killer Mike and T.I. filed a building permit this week to kickstart plans to rebuild and reopen the historic Bankhead Seafood restaurant in Northwest Atlanta.

The historic Westside restaurant first opened on Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway (then-Bankhead Highway) in 1968 and closed in 2018. Both Hip-Hop legends said they are doing this to invest in the community.

Killer Mike and T.I. officially purchased the business in 2019, including the name, trademark and recipes.

They said the hope is for the eatery to “be a fully-functioning” restaurant, complete with a liquor license.

Ah, I remember a real-estate agent telling me to buy homes in Bankhead/Old 4th Ward/Pittsburgh around 10 years ago when some homes were in the $10k range and hold onto them. Of course, I didn't listen.

Prices slashed at upscale Bankhead townhome community

Here’s a word that’s been absent from the Atlanta housing market lately but has popped up notably on the Westside: Discount.

Coincidentally or not, during the same month Microsoft officials confirmed a Westside tech campus project won’t be moving forward as planned, a new townhome community three blocks away that’s attracted headlines for smashing Bankhead sales records is undergoing significant price decreases ..."
