Appears to be following the same (or similar) formula that they used back in the 90's when they were one of the most influential alt rock stations in the country. Hoping they remain with this "Classic Alternative" format and not add any of the lame music that passes for modern alt.

One question though...will they have to rebrand as "100X"?

People still listen to commercial radio? lol

If for some reason I wanted to listen to the same 3 Green Day songs over and over, I could just do that on my Spotify, with no commercials.

99.7 was a big deal in the early-mid 90's. I enjoyed it a lot then, and discovered great music. It was a good time to grow up. The whole concept seems pretty irrelevant now, though. Maybe that's just me.

It's not just you. But some of us still enjoy the allure of radio. It's free, doesn't require you to create a playlist and is easier to control while driving vs. fumbling through your phone. Sure there are commercials, but that comes with the territory. It's not that big a deal.

Nope, that's now an FM simulcast of WSB.

I remember Power99, but I was a young kid. What was the difference between them and 96rock/96.1?

Z93 (92.9) I remember used to be what at the time was what we called classic rock. 70's and earlier. 96rock was 80's into early 90's rock. Now I guess all that would be classic rock.

I remember 99x played a higher share of things like REM and the Breeders and Pixies and stuff like that. But there was also Star 94/94.1 (previously 94Q), that also played big radio rock hits, like would have played plenty of U2 and REM and stuff like that.

99x in its golden era heyday played the highest percentage of deeper cuts, and I think certain hours even played local indie stuff. That was the best one before I discovered and loved college radio (Album 88.5), and then the internet era just kind of took everything over for me.

I don't miss rock radio, at all. I don't need to hear "Back In Black" every day of my life. It's all on streaming.

That takes me back. I used to listen to Z93 a lot in the late 80's, and at the time was a pop station that played a lot of George Michael, The Jets, Michael Jackson (from his Bad album), etc. In the early 90's I listened to Power 99 more which was also pop, which played a variety from Bryan Addams to C+C Music Factory, Nirvana to Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch (lol), Color Me Badd, Boyz II Men, Sir Mix-a-lot, etc.

My parents listened to Album 88 since the 80's, and I remember listening to 99X in the early 90's since it changed over. I also listened to V103 a lot in early to mid 90's, and then Hot 97.5 in the mid to late 90's (back when Ludacris was a DJ with the name Chris Lover-Lover).

Yeah, I also remember around 2000 or whenever 95.5 the Beat started. I was in high school and working at a restaurant and that station was playing loud all the time, especially after closing.

That was actually the best station of that time IMO, because I seem to remember it had minimal talk, and it was just all music, and it wasn't all the same old pop radio music. They played dance music and radio rap/club hits, and some of it was pretty good. That stuff was actually fresh and not stale at the time. Then that whole genre eventually became a self-parody.

They played a lot of Outkast, at the height of Outkast's best era. That was great.

Song list doesn't strike me as Alt Rock. Sounds kind of mainstream. I think more of that station a few years back at 106 or 107 on the dial.

100.5 was a nice alternative to the other stations.
