I'm looking at homes in East Cobb, particularly those bound by Pope, Walton and Lassiter high schools, and I see two distinct tax observations:

(1) Lassiter homes have higher taxes than Pope and Walton homes

(2) Home within Lassiter can also be very different. For example, looking at two homes just separated by Sandy Plains Rd have much different taxes (3 times difference)

Any idea why? Is there a way to look at listings by tax info besides the typical search attributes?

Much obliged.

The taxes should be the same. The homes must have different appraisals.

Also if the homeowner has the senior citizen exemption the taxes are way different.

Pete probably has the answer.

To add more details to what I said earlier: Any Cobb homes outside the city limits of Marietta will always have the same mill rate for school tax. This includes even incorporated areas of Smyrna, Austell, Powder Springs, Kennesaw and Acworth. Marietta proper (not addresses) is the exception because it has its own school system.

Now, for non-school taxes, cities will usually have higher taxes. This isn't a long-term guarantee, since efficiency could possibly bring down the cost of services, but usually residents want higher services, which is why they live in an incorporated area to begin with. That tends to cost a little more.
