Well, we made it to GA.
One thing I have noticed is how friendly everyone is, wow!
The hills are awesome, the homes are beautiful.
However, some of these roads to get to subdivisions are like country roads (Dacula Road, Gravel Springs, etc). I'm not saying it's a bad thing, of course, I'm just not used to it.
Is it like this everywhere around here?

It's because they were country roads not too long ago!!! The Mall of Georgia was previously a large field, and there was nothing around there until it was built in, I think, 1999.

Wow. Now is the other side of Metro Atlanta the same way (Marietta, Kennesaw, Acworth)?

Depends on where you look. Towns like Marietta and Kennesaw have been around for 100 years, but there are areas in Cobb County that weren't developed at all until recently. It's been growing quickly!

Population of Cobb County by year since 1960:

1960 - 114,174
1970 - 196,793
1980 - 297,718
1990 - 447,745
2000 - 607,751
2009 - 701,355 (estimate from US Census)

The area you are moving to, is still quite new. It is hard to find a home in that area (Dacula, Mill Creek, Buford) older than around 10 years. It's an area I would consider almost an exurb. I live on the other side of Lawrenceville which boomed in the late 80s to mid 90s, so everything here is more built out. Here are the population changes for Gwinnett County.

1900-25,585
1910-28,824
1920-30,327
1930-27,853
1940-29,087
1950-32,320
1960-43,541
1970-72,349
1980-166,903
1990-352,910
2000-588,488
2008-789,499

I think part of the problem here is thinking of Metro Atlanta too much like it is a series of towns/cities.

Most of Metro Atlanta is in unincorporated territory.

If you do a search on here, you will find several posts/threads that help explain the "unincorporated" phenomenon of Atlanta.

Type something like "unincorporated Metro Atlanta" in the Search function above.

It will help clarify things...
