Hi all-
(Consider this a sort of companion to an earlier poster's question about the trains in Decatur!)
I'm considering buying a place on Oakview Road in Decatur, but I'm wondering how loud/busy that road is. My wife once lived on a main road in a northern city and the sound (especially the buses) drove her crazy. The few times we've looked at places on Oakview, the road was quiet as a mouse, honestly, but we could never arrange to be there during rush hour. Does anyone who lives off it, or nearby, offer an opinion on this? We have little kids, too, so that's part of the concern.
Thanks!

It is quiet. Not as quiet as a side street, but not anything like Hosea Williams (which it intersects at around the city limits). I can't say I have been down it during rush hour, but I can't imagine it would be too busy. It is a bus route, so that could be a concern for your wife. We live on a side street that is a bus route and it doesn't bother me much, but I do notice it when I sleep in. I don't know about the little kids issue... I don't think I would be too concerned, but it would be a negative if comparing it to a house on a side street.

We live fairly near Oakview. It's too busy to consider it a street that kids could play on, but I don't think I would mind living on it if I wasn't worried about kids getting in the street. There are city buses, but not many at all - I rarely see one. You also get the school buses in the morning - but you'd see that anywhere.

I'd go for it unless you have kids that like to ride bikes up and down the street.
