I purchased Farmer's Insurance on a rental property I own. I paid annually. This year I got a call and was told that even though I paid annually, they had been writing it up monthly and charging me a monthly fee so there was not enough to cover the payments and the fee so they charged me late fee. I hit the roof! Then they told me they were doubling my bill for the same property! I asked why and they said they had to make up for their losses for last year. That is like a loser at the slots telling the casinos to give them back the money they lost!
All I had was a small roof repair and I had to pay half of it so they only lost a little over 1,000 dollars and now they were doubling my bill and getting back their loss in two years time like I was supposed to be punished for the wind blowing shingles off my roof!

To top it all off, I had no where to turn so I paid the double cost and then looked for other bids. Low and behold an insurance company is willing to insure my rental for the same price I had originally. So I called cancelled and today Farmers told me that out of over a 900 dollar payment I get 80 dollars back so again I hit the roof. They said they would call back and they did, to tell me I have to wait until Tuesday to find out why they did not return my money!

It takes 4 days for a computer to figure out what accounting error was made? I do not think so. I wrote the national company and the national company representing itself to the public as caring and writing to me: Dear Valued Customer: that they don't change policy! It is not a policy! It is an accounting error! They have had my money to make a fortune on for a month! I AM TOTALLY DISGUSTED WITH FARMERS I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THEM AND I HOPE OTHER LANDLORDS DON'T FALL PREY TO THE SAME PROBLEM I HAVE HAD.
