Mayor and City Administrator to make plan for blighted property in Augusta (Jackson: budget)

Mayor Hardie Davis agrees now is the time for action. He plans to sit down with City Administrator Janice Allen Jackson to form a plan.

"I welcome the challenge and welcome the opportunity to sit down with Administrator Jackson and put something together beyond our ability to tear them down, but then what do we do once we tore them down?" Mayor Davis said.

That's the next step the commission voted on. The mayor and administrator will put together a plan in the next few months. Commissioner Lockett would like to see put together sooner than later.

"Let's make that investment. Let's get that money out of the banks, spend it, and our returns are going to be great," he said.

Whatever it takes to fix a problem spread across the county. The mayor originally wanted a plan done in the next ninety days but that's right around when they'll be dealing with budget talks. Commissioners hope it will be done before the end of the year though.
