What are the safest areas in Augusta/Richmond County Georgia?

The safest areas in Augusta/RC would be West Augusta and the Hephzibah area. Outside of the county North Augusta is pretty good as the previous poster stated as well as Martinez, Evans and Grovetown.

West Augusta is where all of your shopping and the most amenities are located as well.

North Augusta is on the South Carolina side of the river. Just FYI since you're not from around here, so it might not be obvious.

The Summerville area is great. Lots of old houses, and plenty of great restaurants and bars.
