Augusta uses cyber to cultivate business, economic growth (house, school)

Wray said the question of whether Augusta has been successful in those efforts will be answered in part by how many people stay in the area and whether their skill sets remain in Augusta. But that won’t be answered for years.
“I think a lot of people like the thought of coming here. I think Augusta’s a great place to be. You’ve got some great assets to call upon, but it’s a matter of are those people going to stay long term or are they going to move on, whether it’s D.C. or New York or Austin or San Francisco or wherever it may be,” he said. “Can we keep them long term? I think the verdict is still out on that.”
Some things have already been done. The city has built the $100 million Georgia Cyber Center on the riverfront that will house cybersecurity businesses and help educate students to become a skilled workforce. The Richmond County school system has created a cyber pathways program to filter students into cybersecurity majors at Augusta Technical College and Augusta University. And cyber-focused businesses such as Unisys and EDTS have created centers in Augusta.
