Does this made-up name bother anyone else besides me? Austonian? Really?

Yep, they really blew it with that name. They might as well have named it "We Aren't From Around Here and We Don't Care About Those Who Are" and be done with it.

What is the reasoning behind that name anyway?

Sounds too much like Houstonian or Bostonian if you ask me. But those are correct usages at least, not made up. There's a fancy hotel/spa and golf course in Houston called The Houstonian, and I keep picturing that... LPGA will be played there this year.

When I first saw the billboards for it, I thought it was a joke...

At least "Bostonian" or "Houstonian" are real words describing a person from that city. It would be like calling a building in Boston the "Bostonite."

Its just a pseudo-upscale name. Cheapest condo, $500K with $700 monthly HOA fees. It'll be for Austin's elite. Actually, a friend of a friend said that Kanye West(rapper) bought one of the penthouses there. So basically, it'll be a hotel in Austin for the rich and 2nd homes for Dell execs. Maybe Matt McCaughahay can have a pimp pad there too. Must be nice.

The name is really dumb. Maybe if enough people b*tch about the name, they'll change it...probably not though

As for the building itself, best to wait until it's completed to really decide but I do like the curved shape and the color of the glass. Saw it during a sunset the other day and it was nice. Of course I'll most likely never see the inside

On another forum, a lawyer wrote in to offer his services, describing himself as an Austonian. On several counts, I found that amusing.
