OK, it's the last day of the holidays, school's back tomorrow.

Can anyone recommend a good play area for kids aged 5-12 to have a blast today???

N or NW Austin preferred but will try anywhere worth the drive!!

Thanks

Have you tried Radijazz? Not really a playscape as such but a lot of physical activity. Usually have a vaudeville-type skit at 4PM that the kids love as well. Today is the Singing Zoologist. Free Wi-Fi for adults. Oops. Just realized your kids are a bit older. Radijazz is probably best for ages 3-6. I'll leave this post here anyway for folks with younger kids.

If it wasn't so gray outside, I'd say the Park in Avery Ranch that has the water sprinklers. There is a decent sized playground there. I don't know if this is too far North or not.

I really like the playscape at Central Market on N. Lamar, Zilker (of course), and Northwest Park off of Shoal Creek. Indoor places strike me as kind of germy, I know it doesn't make sense...

Naw, I agree, it does make sense. That's why I bring antibacterial hand stuff everywhere

I agree with minimom...the playscape at Central Market is the BEST and has stuff for all ages. Plus, you can have a glass of wine while the kids play

the best for the future is zilker.......playscape, pideons to feed, ducks etc. people tossing stuff for their labs/spaniels to retreive in barton creek below barton springs.....people swimming at the springs. great snack bar with everything from popcorn to great burgers/hot dogs/ice cream

another good one is at the MUD park on Andersen Mill rd, not but a mile, mile and a half east of 183/anderson mill road

Again one for the future - the fountains behind the Palmer Events Centre are lot of fun. Congratulations to whoever designed it and the city who, I presume, funded it. Our 8 year old loves it there, especially when it is hot (but even that is not a strict requirement).

Casting my vote for zilker too. Playscapes are nice, you can walk along the path, ride the train, and go to the nature center to see the animals and dig in the dino pit.
