KXAN story is here.

Apparently the kid was outside for three minutes. I guess the trial lawyer figures that's worth $2,000,000 per minute.

That is kind of funny. Yes, I would be a bit upset if my 4 y/o was locked out unattended for any amount of time. OTOH, I can't imagine suing for any money if absolutely nothing bad happened - other than the fleeting trauma, which the kid has likely forgotten.

I'm a pre-school teacher, and I absolutely think the school needs to pay up. I don't think money's the answer, but it's the only punishment they can face. Maybe if they get hit in the pocketbook, they will do better and take this seriously. There is positively, absolutely no excuse for this. None. I work for a private school, and I would have been immediately fired for this, as I should be. I haven't seen where any action has been taken for this.

Read the article:
"The district took appropriate disciplinary action against the substitute, and that substitute has not and will not be working for the district again," RRISD said in a statement. "We took this situation extremely seriously and immediately investigated"

But it isn't the school that will pay up, is it? It's Round Rock taxpayers and the State.

Then taxpayers should be furious that the school employs people who are so poorly trained and/or supervised that they would lose track of a child.
