Austin is a good place for kids. People are friendly.

What's your price range?

What part of NY are you moving from? I could recommend an area similar in Austin if thats what you are looking for (I lived in NY years ago).

Welcome, Captain Obvious.

It's pretty much becoming redundant at this point to say "I'm moving to Austin, TX and looking for good schools, a good neighborhood, and something in the $150K range". Really? Isn't everybody? I'm pretty sure that coming from New York, you can throw a dart at a map of central Texas and hit a school district that is by far better than the ones you're coming from, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. The funny part is everyone coming on here and looking for the "$150K-$200K neighborhoods with great schools and low crime" when the neighborhoods they're coming from range from $450K-650K, are a poor school district, and high crime. "Beggars can't be choosers" just take what you can get, move on, and be happy.

Texas is becoming everyone's "dream" location to live now; it's like everyone's waken up and smelled the roses. We have good schools, low crime, cheap housing, high employment rates, beautiful women, beautiful weather (most of the time), great sporting events/teams, and friendly people. That combination is hard to find, anywhere in the world. Problem is, everyone has "awaken" at the same time. Our city/state has been discovered so now everyone and their mother wants to live here. How's that for uplifting? LOL!!

I am seeing and I thought maybe it iwas just me. But it does seem that everyone and there mama is moving to Austin Texas. And you are right I do agree almost anywhere is a notch above NYC schools. However, all that glitters is not gold and I wanted yet another view. So I thank you for yours....Oh and could it be that the awakening in this wonderful state is a calling from above to those who are called that has something greater to offer this state from within.......food for thougth.
