I am looking into buying a old 2000 Chevy truck, I need some recommendations of a good mechanic I can take the truck to get inspected at before I make the purchase. Good in the sense of fair price and will tell me if there's any major problems.

Thanks

By the way, why do most vehicles for sale in Texas have so many miles?
Many 2000 trucks I looked at in Utah had less than 98k miles, most of the trucks I looked at here has over 200k miles.

Try Cutler Automotive

4416 Burnet Rd
Austin, TX 78756
(512) 453-7279

They were recommended to me and they are honest. I went to them for a second estimate after another mechanic quoted me $2000K to repair my car (plus things that I knew was done, like changing the timing belt). The mechanic/owner of Cutler (I can't remember his name), looked at my car and told me all I needed to do was buy some fuel injector to clean my gas tank. I did that and it fixed my problem.

We use lemon busters for what you are describing. They will go to the truck and inspect it.

Maybe becaue of the long distances between major cities.

I really like Leonard's. They have locations all over. They have always been wonderful to me, and you get tons of discounts and coupons when you go to them. I have 2 friends who are both car nuts (one has a couple classic cars, and both can pretty much do all their own repairs) and they both referred me to Leonard's. So, I'd so go with them. Good luck!
