I assume she's working for the Scott & White system, given your description of the locations you mentioned. My wife also works for them (at their Round Rock hospital). If she doesn't want more than a 40 minute drive to Temple, Georgetown is the place to be. I agree with others that Round Rock will be too far south. If you are going to be working, and if you all lived in Georgetown you'll want to restrict your job search to Georgetown, Leader, Cedar Park, and Round Rock. Commuting down from Georgetown to downtown Austin will take over an hour in the morning.

Also, as far as the reverse commute goes, you're correct that she won't hit traffic going from Georgetown to Temple or Killeen. Going from Georgetown to Round Rock there will be a little bit of traffic, but her drive there should still not be more than 15 minutes.

No intention to hijack the thread, but I might actually be in the exact same boat. So it seems like Georgetown is the place to be. Any good rental opportunities in the $1000-$2000 range?

Not bad, (how I grew up), but it feels wayyyyyyy less city like than RR to me. I went into the starbucks and the sun city crowd was there and it just all seemed very country. Just to give you an idea.... not quite boston like
I agree with you, very country compared to RR and other areas imo. GT does have some nice shopping near by. We loved Berry Creek, but couldn't afford the HOA fees. It is beautiful though lots and lots of trees. I would move to GT if I were you, and with your wifes job and all. You won't get all that you are looking for but who does really.

Debbie....
