My husband and I are gonna have to move to Austin by the end of this month, since he got a new project at Balfour (near Slaughter Lane). We are both currently working as contractors at USAA in San Antonio. We don’t have any kids. His new project at Balfour is supposed to be for at least a year, with chances of becoming permanent. I plan on commuting to San Antonio every working day, until I find something in Austin. With this situation in mind, we’re looking for apartments near Slaughter Lane area- somewhere which is easily accessible via I-35. I don’t want to spend a lot of time driving through Austin on my way to San Antonio every morning. I have no idea how I’m gonna survive the daily commute back and forth. Does anyone here have any accommodation recommendations? Where should we start looking? Ideally, we would prefer something that’s furnished (2nd priority) and that doesn’t require us to sign a lease (1st priority). We move in between cities pretty often for projects and just don’t enjoy buying furniture/worrying about the lease anymore.

I think you ought to look in Buda or Kyle.

Kyle and Buda would be ideal, but your choices are limited with apartments. However, you will find an abundance of apartments in the Slaughter Ln. area and up towards Stassney where you are a little closer to town. Due to the fact that you might be finding a job in Austin in the future, I would consider finding a place that has other outlets to Austin other than IH35, for those times you want to go into town for some fun. Congress and Stassney I think may be good options for you.
