Cool. It's great to live in somewhere so socially progressive.

Feel free to direct message me, if you all want some tips on how to lift your game.

I love Aotearoa, couldn't live there (I checked it out), but I can still love it from afar.

NZ gains population from the rest of the world and tends to loose some of that with a net loss to Australia as it has a larger economy, lets not get all "Australian media" sensational about it especially with the NZ economy doing better atm.

The 2008-2012 spike was a result of NZ performing worse (but better than most in the OECD) in the GFC and ESPECIALLY the effects from 2 years of ongoing CHCH Earthquakes which has now predictably turned into a economic positive event. Right now NZ is above long term trends from the rest of the world and falling below trend for the net loss to Aus, so hardly queuing at the Auckland Airport lol.

But seriously after 2 years in Australia I believe NZ is the slightly better country to live in, do I regret leaving? no life is about the journey not the destination, I will appreciate NZ a TON more when I eventually return.

4 years living in the Uk certainly made me appreciate Australia a lot more. I don't think I will ever use my British passport again at this stage of my life.

Well after a record 10 year high in number of New Zealanders moving to Australia, the number of New Zealanders moving to Australia is very recently been reduced, and it due to a improvement to the economy over there.

There has been an increase in immigrants to New Zealand. These days the biggest immigrants to New Zealand is from China, followed by India and then it is the UK. Yet I believe many of the immigrants would use New Zealand as a transit point to eventually move to Australia. Lower Number of New Zealanders Moving to Australia

Around 24% of people living in Aus were not born here while that compares to 23% in NZ, so in actual fact the make-up of the populations are fairly similar in this regard.

NZ still has a fairly stringent immigration process, its not "as" stringent as Aus but its still a lot harder to immigrate there than many other countries, excluding a few tiny pacific Island nations that NZ allows in freely. Most immigrates stay in NZ, the whole NZ is a back door to Aus is heavily over played in the Aus media, hence that 23% mentioned above for NZ would likely be a lot lower.
