New Zealand has a program for working professionals to spend 6 months there on a kind of cultural exchange program. My wife's an Emergency medicine doc and I'm in IT.

Has anyone had dealings with this program?

Haven't heard of that one, but would be interested in more details if you have them.

There is a one year working holiday visa for Americans aged 18-35 to take advantage of. There are no restrictions on it regarding where you can work.

And if the IT doesn't work out, you guys can always pick fruit. Plenty of those sorts of jobs for migrants and visitors to help cover the costs of NZ!
