I've heard that the Kiwi accent is stronger in the younger generation than among older speakers, that is more different from British and Aussie. Do you think it's bucking the trend of accents sounding more and more the same?

One News: Kiwi Accent - YouTube

Well this news story suggests that it is, and from what I've heard it's sounds as strong as ever. I think part of it is to sound different to Aussie haha.

I think it's more different to Aussie than Canadian is to American.

that's the Aus stereotyped Maori accent you are referring to, its not mainstream Kiwi, although there are changes.

It depends on where the person is from in New Zealand, some regional accents are stronger than others it's not just an age thing. Some of the younger generation do have a slight mid-atlantic drawl though which is not unattractive but does make them sound a tad more aussie.

New Zealand Lingo and Accent - YouTube

This Kiwi accent is very different though, much to the amusement of Mr Norton (LOVE that man! )
