Any other Drag Racers on here? Let's see, we have about 4-5 weeks before the Winternationals start. Who else is running there?

I'm strictly an oval track fan. But we did go to the Zmax strip on opening day last year.

Have a great season!

Thanks Stripes. I used to circle track race, but after winning 7 weeks in a row, the 8th week we show up, and was given an approved cyl. head for "all gm cars". Every head they had on the list was sbc's, no Pontiacs, Olds or any other gm division except the chevies that couldn't keep up with my 354 Pontiac. We also got tore down as some thought we were cheating with too large an engine. Knowing what some of the other rans, I put the money up to tear down 8 cars. All but 2 were using 400 cranks in 350 blocks! And the 1 that was actuly a 350 olds was my closes' competitor. We were the only 2 legal powered gm cars with our cid under the 358 rule. I should have went back, but I said the hell with it and went back to drag racing.

Two weeks until my friend Tim Wilkerson shows off a beautiful Ford Funny Car and a McKinney chassis that had everyone at PBIR talking last weekend. A Funny Car with struts and springs?

McKinney is cream of the crop in funny car chassis. I've never seen one of their cars not perform. I'll look for Wilkerson's car.

I sure wish he would have stayed with GM. I've been a fan of Tim since the JCIT days and to see him change to Fjord almost makes me not want to root for him anymore.

So you're a new fan. I've known Tim and his family since his days with the NAPA Alcohol F/C. He had to go where the money and the down force is.

A good friend of mine works for Allen Johnson and to hear how much less $ most will have to work with is really an eye opener! Many had to make changes such as car makes sponserships to be able to race at all.

What did you think of the sounds and chest thumping from the dragsters and funny cars? I always tell people tv is a crime against drag racing as it doesn't even begin to let you see, smell, feel or hear how good it really is!
