Make sure the vehicle you are towing is in neutral.

That us just abject stupidity. For the person driving the tow vehicle not to notice the drag, sparks, or probably hundreds of other drivers trying to flag them down means they were not paying any attention at all. They should be billed for highway damage.

Also, remember release your parking brake.

Any wonder why it pulled hard?

Not the first one. Many moons ago I saw an MG roadster that was towed from Cleveland to Ft Myers FL with the stick shift
gearbox in 2nd. Spinning the engine that fast coming down the Interstate wore the engine completely out. The owner traded it.

Not just with tow dollies!

I saw a couple with a huge Class A motorhome getting ready to hitch up and pull their "toad" car for the trip to the next campground. They had driven the toad to where it waited behind the MH, got out, and the man prepared for the next stage. While he was fiddling with something, his wife got in the car again, did something, and then got out to wave the guy to continue. They hitched up. As he began slowly driving the combo, I was horrified to see that the car's front wheels were locked up and sliding instead of rolling. I frantically yelled and waved at him to stop, which he did. When I told the man what I noticed, he thanked me and exploded at his wife that he had TOLD HER TO STAY PUT AND NOT TOUCH ANYTHING!!!!so why did she move the tranny from Neutral to Park???!!!??!!!!?

Force of habit. Whenever I am getting out of one of my stick cars, I put it into gear without thought.
