I am trying to figure out if there is a car called the Isuzu Jeep, basically an SUV, not a Jeep model. I have seen an SUV that is a Jeep Patriot. If I Google Isuzu Jeep, I get a lot of info about the Isuzu Trooper. Is there such a car as an Isuzu Jeep, and if so, does it look a lot like a Jeep Patriot?
thanks

There is no "Isuzu Jeep." Jeep has in the past, and I think still does, license its design to other truck manufacturers, but 1) Isuzu to the best of my knowledge was not one of them (in fact Isuzu was affiliated with GM, not Chrysler/Jeep); and 2) even if it were, the licensed products are still called something other than "Jeep." The other, smaller Isuzu SUV was the Isuzu Rodeo, which is even less likely to be mistaken for a jeep than a Trooper. (ETA: Oh yeah, there was also the Amigo, which bears a vague resemblance to the Patriot -- I guess?)

For what it's worth, Isuzu completely pulled out of the U.S. passenger car/truck market about 3 model years ago.

I think what they are talking about is the Isuzu Rodeo/Amigo. The Rodeo was a traditional five door SUV, but didn't really look like the Patriot. The Amigo (later named Rodeo Sport) was a 3 door "jeep" SUV that was popular with off roaders. Many people referred to it and still do as a "jeep", though it had nothing to do with actual Jeeps (though there was some sharing between Isuzu and Jeep in Europe where the Rodeo used a Jeep diesel engine).

Here is an example of where people still call it the "Isuzu Amigo Jeep":

Perhaps Isuzu built some imitation Jeeps back in the day? Willys/Kaiser/AMC/Chrysler wasn't the only manufacturer of trucks that looked like Jeep CJs. AM General built some for the Post Office. I think Ford even built some back in WW2. Mahindra of India built some, too.

Just looked at Wikipedia. The Jeep page has a lot to say. No mention of Isuzu, though.

The old trooper maybe? They were often called "jeeps" overseas... Everything that was 4wd was called a "jeep" come to think of it...
