What are your opinions on this truck if you've ever owned one.
Is the denali line just more powerful with added luxury? Im looking at the Denali sierra and the sierra hybrid.
The fact most are MADE IN MEXICO turned me way off......Silag, MX.
I think the Hybrids are just trying to be PC, but in reality they are a joke. The Denali gets the big motor (6.2 liter, 403 HP) and isn't great for anything (towing, mileage etc). The 5.3 motor is the best of everything, the 4.8 only gets the crappy 4 spd tranny (vs. the 6 spd w/the 5.3).
I've got an 07 SLE (5.3) that I bought new in 07. With 79000 miles on the clock it's had two batteries(35K & 55K) and rear shoes at 70k. The factory tires lasted 15k(same as my 07 Tahoe) and replaced with Firestones which are still good. I'ts used for pool service and driving around Vegas about 300 miles weekly I average 16.3 mpg. For the first two years I was getting about 17.5 but it's slowly going down. It tows alot better than the Tahoe(gearing) and with a 5500lb boat/trailer behind you it gets about 12mpg on a run. Not a bad truck in my opinion
Both GM and Ford make OK 1/2 ton pickups. I wouldn't waste a dime on a fancy interior/options in a pickup. The fancy interior is just a bunch of high-profit crap that adds nothing to the performance of the vehicle and often is just a bunch more of mechanical and electrical doo-dads to go wrong at some point. Typically, dealers load their lots with pickups with all of the fancy interior options because they add profit to the vehicle.
The heavy-duty 3/4 tons from both GM and Ford are OK, too. In a 4WD, I prefer the Ford because it has a solid front axle, not the independent suspension found in the GM models. The independent suspension rides somewhat better, but I've found from personal experience over a lot of years that the independent front suspension on the GM vehicles is more problem-prone than Ford's bulletproof front axle when one uses a 4WD pickup in hard backcountry use. Finally, starting with the 2011 model year, Ford got a decent diesel engine for its pickups, after the disastrous 6.0 and 6.4 turkeys they sold for years.
city guy the transmission is made there rest in usa and canada look on the door
