4 days ago I took my '06 Honda Accord to the nearest dealership to get the car serviced/inspected.

Later that day, I was listening to my Ipod in the car (I have a cord that comes out of the center console an plugs into the ipod/mp3 that uses the 2nd cd-changer auxilary mode) and suddenly the volume dropped drastically. I thought it was an issue with the Ipod but then we tried my friend's Iphone and it was still playing at a really low level. A few minutes later, when I'ld hit CD/Aux it wouldn't even switch from the CD player to the Aux mode. The next day, the CD player stopped working, so when the radio's on and I hit that buttion nothing happens at all.

I've had no problems at all with the car for the 3 years I've had it, so I find it suspicious that this would start happening the same day I took it in. I just called the dealership and they're gonna charge me $97 to look at it.

Also, might be worth noting they replaced a reverse-light bulb. When I got my car back the old bulb was just sitting in the passenger's seat. No big deal but just seemed a bit careless. They had also recommended a front brake service @ $185, Valve adjustment @ $155 and a spark plug replacement @ $155, none of which I agreed to do then - just switching out that bulb.

While it's possible the stereo problems are unrelated it just seems suspicious to me that these problems started the same day I had them look at it. Should I be concerned or am I just paranoid?

Sounds fishy.

Try removing the negative (black) terminal on your battery for a couple minutes. Then connect it back and see if the radio is working now.

I would stop taking it to a dealership and find a reputable independent garage with a lot of Honda experience. Check the internet for customer comments and evaluations of the independent shops in your area. Some of those prices you were quoted sound a bit excessive.

I think it would be hard to prove whether they damaged your sound system of if the malfunction is coincidental. Either way, I would not go back to a dealership for service.

It's a dealership, it's what they do -- recommend maintenance services at high prices.
I doubt if an oil change and a bulb replacement had anything to do with your CD player not working. Google it.

Try taking to a place that specializes in installing car radios. They might be able to suggest a quick fix or diagnose it down to a short list of potential problems.

And ask them if they disconnected the battery when they worked on your car.
