Whatever kind of car it is...find a comparable one at another dealership get a quote (even if you like this one better, neve tell them that), use it as negotiation to get the fees down. Always bring your own set of numbers and print outs of comparable cars with you. Put them in a folder and refer to the folder anytime the salesman gets up even if you're not looking for an answer (fake that you are).
Dealerships in many states won't allow you to do this because they are bonded to handle the paperwork and can get in a pickle if they let you drive away without registering the vehicle.
yep, the last dealer i bought a car from said i couldnt take the car until it was registered. no big deal for me, i took the paperwork and had it registered and insured within two hours of buying the car, and most of that was driving time.
