California is the most progressive, in my opinion. Another place to look at are Navy Towns like Norfolk, VA, VA Beach, VA, San Diego, CA since many sailors transfer overseas and have to get rid of cars.

Used SUVs are everywhere. Buy them where gas prices are higher (i.e. New England, Mid Atlantic).

Old friend who had a body shop said San Jose had the cheapest autos in best condition. He often bought complete cars for the car parts.

I'm sure the data, or at least estimates of used car sales volume are out there somewhere to be found on the internet.

I'd shoot for any big city if setting up shop.

The people you will compete with in this venture often go regional and have car haulers or have a contract with car haulers so they can drive 1 day, hit and auction, get 4 or 5 vehicles and get them moving ASAP.

Dallas seems to fit for me and other acquaintances who buy / sell

no rust, cheap flights and plenty of cars / SUV's
CA will have the most 'modified' newer cars and trucks. PHX is probably a good choice too.

Yeah, it does seem so. Lots of people are into that sort of thing around here. Just not my thing. BMW's and Italian motor scooters are more my style.

I hear it's due to all the repo'd cars from NYC. I was looking around there when I was up on a business trip and vowed the next car I buy will be bought there. There are so many good deals.
