I've been considering having a repaint on my 1995 Lincoln Town Car since about September of last year.
Two reasons... 1. The (original) paint is oxidized and/or peeling and 2. I never did like the gray color.
One of the car guys at the weekly car gathering had his 1966 Nova (with a 383 Chevy crate engine) painted at a local paint and body shop. He had the color changed from red to black. It looked very good for a discount place.
My '95 will be changed from gray to dark blue. I was considering burgundy but the color options for that years don't have a true burgundy, more like a red. I do want to have a factory-correct color. Also, red (and possibly burgundy) probably still attracts attention of the police!
Here are a few "before" photos. I will post "after" photos when the work is completed. Supposed to be ready by Friday. I know tastes vary, but I was wondering who would order a new ('95) Lincoln Town Car when colors like light blue, dark blue, black, silver, green and "champagne" (sort of like silver with a pink tint) were available. I guess some people just like gray?
Are they going to repaint the door jambs too? Nothing worse than opening a door and seeing a different color in there.
Yes, I went for that option. An extra $150 for color change which includes door jambs, inside of trunk lid and inside fender edges. Might as well have that done.
I've always been told to never change the original color, however, you are right about the "blah" gray.
By the way . . . other than the faded paint, one very sharp Lincoln.
Don't forget to post some "after" shots.
Thanks, Mr. Bummer. Right, one of my car friends refers to it as "Battleship Gray!" Since I plan on keeping it, I decided to change the color. If I was putting it up for sale, I would have kept the original color.

Makes sense to me, Fleet . . . definitely a KEEPER.
I knew someone that had a '94 Town Car that was bluish purple (or blurple), I kid you not, and that was a factory color.
