Been considering offering this John Player Special Team Lotus Formula One former
mechanic's shirt of mine for auction on eBay as a collector's item.
This is from the last year that Team Lotus F-1 was sponsored by John Player Special. Since the death of Ayrton Senna, it may even be more valuable since he was their #1 driver at the time.
I post it here just for those who appreciate F-1 nostalgia (not to solicit since I've yet to decide whether or not to put it up for sale)........
It's my own from when I worked with Team Lotus as a suspension technician.
If I were in your shoes I would not sell it. The couple of hundred bucks you *might* get for it just isn't enough IMHO.
Must have been a cool job working with JPS and Team Lotus. Of course I have always admired Mr. Chapman from the time I first found out who he was. Sometimes he took his quest for light weight a bit OTT, IMHO, but it's a goal worth stretching some to get at.
I still have another, so I can stand to part with one. There's no possibility of them fitting me anymore either....LMAO!
The job sounds glamorous, but I assure you it wasn't at all. Living out of a suitcase, eating catered food if and when you had a chance, allotted only one phone call home a week (no mobile phones back then), often working all night, and being underpaid just so you could list it on your resume just wasn't the life I'd hoped for.
I'm interrested in that t-shirt, please contact me at pvamosi@gmail.com
