I am breaking into this area gradually, and am considering such ProStreet light vehicles such as an old Chevy Vega or Chevy Chevette with racing motor (complete car) for use in the 1/8th mile Strip .
Id like to hear from anyone who has experience with ProStreet , tips, concerns, cautions they can give, how expensive the hobby is, and videos of your ProStreet if you have any.
So far, ive looked at mostly Big BLock motors , and one had a Racing inline 4 cyl. Motor with Turbo and Nitrous netting 800 hp .

Thanks.
The old adage still hold true: Speed costs $$$, how fast ya wanna go?

800 h.p. worth of speed would do me just fine . The Chevy Chevette with the racing inline 4 cyl. with turbo and nitrous is listed for $7,000 . The inside looks acceptable, the exterior looks extremely nice, and the motor has only 25 runs on it. How fast do you figure this would go in the 1/8th having 800 hp on tap ?? High 5's ???

Where does the 800HP number come from?
Do you have dyno sheets or is it just a guestimate?
It must be old age, I was thinking of ProStreet as something like a tubbed F-Body with a big block
Not familiar with 1/8 times but I'm sure you can find some estimators on the web.

He said it was dynoed at 500 hp on the Turbo and the Nitrous is a 300 shot. It is a 1983 Chevette, tubbed, even has working a/c . Its on ebay and ill post the link for you . $7,000

For a trailered to the track only Race car why would you even want power sapping extra weight adding working A/C anyways?

The only 'said' I'd be interested in is what the dyno said. I've seen what people 'said' were 500HP engines hard-pressed to make 450HP on a very accurate dyno.
I haven't played with the juice but to me, if a small 4cyl is legitimately making 800HP, I'd guess 25 runs puts you in the borrowed time area.
EDIT: Listing says 25 hours but no description of what those hours were. Putting around on the street at 0 boost or?

Seems strange to me if it's a race car that there's no times listed.
