First was a 1996 Dodge Neon for four years and next my 2000 Dodge Neon. Her next journey is The Frederick County Public Schools Career and Technology Center. She is now a teaching tool. It's been an awesome 13 years and over 235,000 plus miles. The best car I have ever owned so far. Gonna miss her.

That's is something I've never heard a neon owner ever say.
All joking aside, that is impressive. Nice to see it used as a teaching tool.
Are they going to fix the peeling sheets of paint?
That went out with the 1995 and 1996's. I had a '96 before and never had that problem. The 2000's paint is still awesome after 13 years though. She looks so good even today. Just too many mechanical problems popped up i the last 6-8 months. We already bought the replacement back in April, a 2013 Ford Focus. I didn't really need 4 cars so we "retired" the Neon the day her tags ran out.
Everyone expects them to blow up, fall apart, roll over in the driveway on their own, off-gas deadly toxins into your lungs, break into your house and steal your food stamps/weed/liquor stash, sleep with your wife when you aren't home and kill small puppies just to watch them die.
The truth is they are just cars. Take care of a car... virtually ANY car, and it will take care of you.
When I met my wife in '98 she was driving a '95. Except for the speedo having a mind of it's own that thing was pretty solid. We traded it in in 2000 (on a Celica) and I am guessing (speedo didnt work so neither did the odometer) it had around 100K miles on it (odometer was reading like 80K).
It was actually a pretty peppy little car. We really only traded it in because it sat out in a hail storm and insurance gave us $3500 for repairs. We traded in the car and gave the dealer the insurance money.
