1989 Mercedes 560SEL (parents') was likely the first with dual airbags. Other than classics, I've always had a vehicle with dual airbags as a daily driver, myself, since I would not daily drive a classic.

My first car with an airbag (driver side only) was a 1991 Camaro RS that I bought in 1995. My first car with DUAL airbags if I recall correctly was a 1995 Chrysler Concorde that I purchased around 2002-2003.
My grandmother actually had a car with DUAL airbags in the early 1980s which was a 1974 Oldsmobile Toronado. A lot of people don't know that GM offered dual airbags as options in their big cars from 1974-1976 (on the Oldsmobiles, Buicks and Cadillacs). Some 1973 Chevy Impalas were fitted with test airbags.
The oldest car we have ever personally ever owned with an airbag is my old 1988 Mercedes S-Class sedan, which is now my mothers car. The oldest car I have ever owned with dual airbags is my current 1993 Mercedes S-Class.
First car with driver side Airbag was a '92 Camry bought in 2000 (stick shift). The first one with dual airbags was a '95 Mitsubishi Galant bought in 2002.
1999 Mazda Protege LX. If it had anti-lock brakes I might have kept it longer. I still see my niece driving it around town. Can't believe how well its held up even with all the abuse the last three years she's been driving it.
I married my first wife in 1975. I had that airbag in my vehicle till 1987.
That's funny!!
My first car with an airbag was September. This past September. September 2013. My Honda Civic has them. Prior to that, I was driving my 1990 Toyota Corolla. No airbag. No CD player. It even had a cigarette lighter and an ashtray. But no airbag.
It was 1999 when we bought a new Jeep Grand Cherokee. Sold it early this year and replaced it with a RAV4.
In 2004 Toyota came out with a Camry that had all sorts of front AND side airbags, got great ratings from Consumer Reports and The Car Book, so we went and got one of them. Still have it.

Never had one. Seat belts work pretty good when you wear them properly - belt over the shoulder. How many think they can slip the shoulder belt behind them and be held in place? That's why bags are a mandatory item on every new car. People left that decision to the government so we all must live with it. There goes personal responsibility.
I would rather have a 5 point racing harness if I really needed airbags.
Maybe the 5-pointers worked for you (I always put them in the pro-street cars), but it made turning your head around far enough see behind you (when backing up, as you had to roll your shoulder tor be able to turn your head far enough) virtually impossible. So I had to rely almost entirely on the rear-view/side-view mirrors. I'll take an airbag (or the multiple arrays of them available nowadays). IMHO, a 5-pt in a street car is almost as much of a pain (and topic for another thread) as one of the older Lenco transmissions, that had no 'reverse' gear.
The first airbag equipped car I bought was in 1990 when I bought a 1990 Plymouth Acclaim LX.
