I was watching Fast and the furious on Tv recently and thought....Before people started adding fart can mufflers, truck nuts, and riced out fenders to their cars.....what were people doing before then??!

Well, stupid is in the eye of the beholder but...jacked up rear ends, huge rear tires and small front tires, dual carbs and ram manifolds poking through the hood - not exactly needed on the street but some did it.

Some mods may seem stupid to you. You just werent around in that time, therefore you just dont understand how things were then.

The same stupid mods that pelople add (or have included as factory options), they just (like now) didn't seem stupid at the time. For example, there was an "electric eye" headlight dimmer around 1960. It was quickly recognized as a stupid idea, and discontinued.

Curb feelers (useful when parallel parking), fuzzy dice, shag carpet on dashboard and headliner, dropping in an engine so big the tires spin when drag racing, tricked out shifter knob
