today I was driving on four lane and a truck came across the fourlane (stop signs on both sides) and I could not miss him and hit him in the front door of his truck which totaled my car. he said he didn't see me coming and the police officer said he did not like do discuss fault at the scene and I had to wait until next week for the accident report to see. he also kept them longer and kept talking to them
Sticky situation. If it's a 4 way stop, and you hit him in the side, most likely you'll be found at fault, even though he may have pulled out right in front of you and caused the accident. However, if he stated that he didn't see you, that could help you immensely in proving that he pulled out in front of you. Check and make sure the cops put that in the police report, otherwise, this could turn into a question of who is lying or not.

was not a fourway stop I was on the main highway and he was coming off one of the side roads in which each had stop signs
He had a stop sign?
He pulled out in front of you?
You were on a 4 lane highway?
He pulled out in front of you?
You could not miss him?
He pulled out in front of you?
You didn't have a stop sign because you were on a highway?
He pulled out in front of you?
You T-boned him?
How could it not be his fault?
As long as you tried to avoid an accident how could it be your fault?
He pulled out in front of you while you were on a 4 lane highway!
Yeah, unless you sped up and aimed for the guy or otherwise made some weird maneuver that caused him not to see you, I can't see how this is your fault. If you are at a stop sign, once you come to a complete stop, you are not allowed to proceed until the way is clear.
Its his fault. I don't think you need to worry about this one.
