Yea I know turbos are appealing to people that never had one. Im not exactly sure how much boost the turbos produce, but it cant be much over 8 lbs, which is not much at all, but youll just about feel it. With an automatic transmission I just dont know about it. A lot of the horsepower gains are simply because the technology in the engine itself. The variable timing and camshaft design with the direct injection and 16 valves.

Wish I could find some Dyno sheets of any Ecoboost engine? any help? Just out of curiosity.

That's not true at all, I live in El Paso and the 2.5 in my Hyundai Tucson does just fine.

Maybe the 4 cylinders of years past with their archaic transmissions would not fare well but it's much different these days.

I'd go with the Edge just because it has adaptive cruise control.

Between those two, the Hyundai. You would be WAY better off though with a Toyota or Honda.

Here you go. This is UK spec but you'll get the idea. Plenty more graphs on this company's website if you want to look.

Wow ,lots of differing opinions - I test drove both and they both had a lot of power on the highway - around here in FL most people are going 80 on the highway - both cars drove well without straining - I really never go over 85.

Don't understand why one poster thought turbos were useless. I want good gas economy and I also want to be able to keep up and pass people on the highway.

And one person thinks both cars are rubbish - so what would you buy? I am not rich.

Edge with 3.5. Better handling than Santa Fe, and the 3.5 will have lots of torque in the lower revs, whereas the 4 cyl will have turbo lag.
Also, it would be good if u could check whether the higher fuel efficiency of the 4 cyl applies in real world driving scenario as well. From what I have read, if you give enough stick to the petrol turbo engines, their fuel efficiency falls to a lot lower than the EPA figures.
