The 50s and 60s cars were incredibly distinctive and different. All these cars today look like turtles. BORING. And these giant flat grill pickup trucks. Whats with that? Imagine hitting a moose with that.
OP, all cars "looked the same" in the past as they do now. To me, cars made in the 50s, 60s, and 70s all looked the same. It's very easy for me to distinguish the difference between a Ford Focus and a Kia Forte. It's not difficult.
I dare to say the grill is the first thing you see and notice in a car. It is VERY important to the cars persona. The big flat grill on the new trucks gives them a menacing, locomotive-like look.

That's exactly what I think, too. It's like when you look at a person the first thing you zone in on is their face to recognize them. The car's "face" is usually the most distinctive part of the car, followed by the taillight design

You have to agree that there is a lot of styling cues that are being copied. Almost every ohter car has copied the the Aston Martin grill.
Most cars made anymore have a virtually identical rounded roofline and you can't even see the hood when sitting in the front seat. I will keep my older heavy duty cars over these crappy egg shaped throw away cars they make now.
