Add a 'brownie' (auxiliary transmission with over-drive ratio)
There are other companies that offer aftermarket overdrive components (ratios beyond 1:1) (Gear vendor)

or... get a different rear end ratio or add a 2 spd to rear end.

Diesel usually has lower RPM than gas, so it is common mistake to have wrong gear ratios in rear-end (differential) or in Transmission.

Sounds like transmissions and gear ratios. I'm guessing it is a city truck. Change out rear ends or swap transmissions for a higher top speed.

Is this just how it normally runs or something that's happening like a issue? Could be you're losing your OD gear.

Its a Hino, thats the problem. I knew a guy with a small fleet of Hino trucks, they were always having problems, and the parts are hard to find, and super overpriced. Get rid of it.

Bingo!

Hino's are cheap pieces of junk. There is a reason their market share is below 5% of the medium duty segment. Buy a real truck - the Freightliner M2 is the market leader in that segment.

That being said, is this RPM problem a new issue or has the truck always been like that? If it's the latter, then your problem is the rear axle ratio on that truck. (Again, a common issue with Hino as they only give you so many choices. Other truck makers offer a wider range of options.)

Hino has a pretty big market share where I hang out... Singapore and Thailand.
55 mph in a commercial truck will get you in BIG trouble in Singapore. (for the whole 20 miles of 'open road'... bit 'confining' for me since I have done most my 40+ yrs commercial driving in WY, MT, CO, ID, WA, OR, NV, NE, SD, ND

Thailand moves a bit faster till you come upon a fatal wreck (often). 1000kg of Durian on a Toyota pickup... stink'n mess...
